New rules on talcum powder and baby formula in carry-on luggage on flights

It’s just became much stricter to fly to America! Now passengers traveling with carry-on luggage are given new rules over what can be taken. This short article explains it all.

The Transportation Security Administration just announced new restrictions on carrying powders in your carry on. Specifically, powdered substances like makeup, protein shake mixes or baby powder, will need to be packed in containers smaller than 350ML (12 ounces). This new policy goes into effect on June 30.

Please, bear in mind, that powders in carry-on bags are also subject to secondary search by TSA, therefore containers may be opened. In the unlikely event if TSA officers cannot figure out what a powder in a carry-on bag is, it may be discarded. So, at Flightandhotelguru.com we suggest that if you need to carry larger amounts of powdered substance, pack them in a checked-in luggage.

The TSA began inspecting and limiting containers of powders in fliers’ carry-on bags last summer on domestic flights, and Michael England, another TSA spokesman, told CNN that most international airlines “have been doing this [inspecting powders] voluntarily since last year.”
